Arnold WILL be in T4 After All! Sort of.

After all the speculation and rumors, it sure looks like it’s finally happening — yup, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Governor of California, and the first and best Terminator of them all, will be showing up in McG’s T4 (aka the long-winded “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”) after all. Well, sort of. While Arnold’s FACE and his VOICE will be showing up in the movie, he won’t be. What, that doesn’t make sense? Read on.
Here’s what someone sent into Latino Review as explanation of Arnold’s upcoming appearance in T4:
The premise of Arnie’s involvement is to have a fully rendered digital face of Arnie replacing the recently cast Roland Kickinger (The Younger version of Arnie). It seems the Director Mc G will in no doubt try all he can to ensure the Governator has some sort of involvement and as a result Arnold was on set providing key ADR (Voice over) for the visual effects guys to reference during post production. You have to remember, Arnold’s commitments are preventing his return to the movie business and this seems the best logical way to ensure his involvement.
You may recall Christopher Lee’s face being embossed on a stunt double in the Star Wars prequels?, imagine that with Arnold and you will get the picture. With ILM’s best on the scene, it looks like Mc G is trying to get a head start on James Cameron’s photo realistic stereoscopic camera systems.
Now THIS actually makes sense. It wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense to have the current Arnold show up in the movie as a Terminator, which would probably elicit responses like, “What, did Skynet start producing old ass Terminators now?” etc.
Below is a picture of Christian Bale (John Connor) meeting Arnold on the set of T4. Meanwhile, TMZ has a video of the meeting on their site here.
Nice info! You’re the first site I’ve seen to pick up on this info. But T4 is now simply called Terminator Salvation (No :The future begins) You guys should really know that being a site all about Terminator…
I don’t buy it yet. they wouldn’t need to hire a look alike if they weren’t planning on using his face too.
I need a better source than some random guy I’ve never heard of. just because Arnold was on set doesn’t mean anything. he could just be checking in on the production.
I’d love to be wrong though.
Hiring a look alike does make sense. That means that once they do the “paint over” of Arnold’s face they won’t have as much work to do thus allowing a more realistic replacement. I mean, you don’t want the Terminator looking too fake. It’s easier to make Roland look like Arnold if he…already…looks like…Arnold…..
Hmm, odd choice if it’s true. Do fans really feel the need to have Arnold in the film in one way or another? No matter how good the effects are it’s still going to be weird. They shouldn’t bother.
no point in putting him in when the t-800 and t-850 series arent created yet if this is the early years of skynet dont you think ??? we are only beginning to see the t-1 tanks more and the first infiltrators usits t-60’s but more along the lines on the first years of the war but i think it will go on and on so it will and more than likely towards the end of it we will c the t-800 go back in time to the start of it all and create a paradox to which the cycle keeps goin dont u think ??? any one ne ideas on that ???
I think you are correct dave. After all, some scientists speculate that traveling backwards in time would create a paradox, or continous cycle of the same events. Either way i a big fan of all the terminator movies. And with all the other crap in theatres and on tv this should be quite refreshing!!!
yes but u think aout it the likes of terminator is comming true very fast cpu’s and getting more powerful every year and ook at tech in japan they are already makin bipedal robots that can walk on there own and begin to think for them selves and in time they will c that we are a threat to ourselves becuz all we do is kill and live and in the end it will be a skynet takin over scenerio to which they deem us to dangerous to survive n wipe us out to protect us as daft as tht last bit sounds
Google for DARPA SYNAPSE
(bioinspired AI is at last being taken seriously as traditional approaches dont cut it… the BlueBrain project is also fascinating. Don’t worry though as I think the Terminator premise will remain just very very good scifi )
wowooww cool !!
i’ve googled ‘Roland Kickinger’ and he looks quite like younger arnold. he even played a younger arnold in a movie about arnold. he has the muscle and the looks, and just with a bit of help from ILM he will play an excellent younger arnold in T4.
btw Dave,
there’s shots of a few t-800 endo’s inactive in skynet’s factory in T4.
T-60? no, its the T-600 series with a minigun strapped to its arm.
the t-800 would obviously still be in the testing phase during T4. like any new software or hardware, it probably has bugs which is why they wouldn’t be skynet’s mainstream humanoid ground units yet. so, what we will probably see is a prototype t-800 model 101 in T4.
This film looks boring, i’ve seen few trailers it not good as the early triology of the the movies, if arnie not in it they shouldn’t bother with this film no one can a good performer like arnie especially if you want to become a terminator. I guarantee this it will flop in the uk, i just seen the grudge 3 that film is wicked watch it i loved every scene of it, i never seen such enjoyable film, i’m not going to bother with T4 it’s a complete waste of a great license for a movie.
