Brian Austin Green Lands on Smallville as Metallo

Well, if Brian Austin Green can’t keep playing Derek Reese on The Sarah Connor Chronicles, at least he’s landed himself a pretty nice gig over at the CW, where TV Guide reports that BAG will be playing the Superman villain Metallo in at least the first two episodes of the show’s upcoming ninth season. Yes, Smallville has been airing for over eight years. Who knew it would last so long?

Green will appear as the kryptonite-powered villain (alter ego “Daily Planet” journo John Corben) in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which takes flight Friday, Sept. 25.
Green’s Smallville gig comes on the heels of the Beverly Hills 90210 alum passing on the role of One Tree Hill sports agent Clayton. (And isn’t this role so, so much cooler?!) Prior to that, Green had been attached to the CW pilot Body Politic, but that series didn’t get picked up for fall.
In other TSCC news, word from the Joss Whedon camp is that he’s looking at adding Summer Glau to the cast of his Dollhouse for their upcoming second season (as you’ll recall, Fox decided to cancel TSCC, but renew Dollhouse), though nothing is official as of yet.
In addition to BSG and Terminator, Smallville is really the only other show I watch(ed) religiously. I look forward to seeing him on the show, hopefully he’ll be a good villain.
I have been watching Smallville the last year and a half. Green would make a nice addition to the cast. Provided they give him significant screen time. Villains are always fun to play, and Clark needs significant villains. They didn’t do well with Doomsday last season. I was expecting a whole lot more action.
As far as Summer joining Dollhouse. If she does join, I’ll watch it. But during its first season, I just didn’t find Dollhouse all that compelling. It was okay, but TSCC was a far better show.
Regardless of what projects the cast of TSCC get involved with in the future, I wish them the best of luck. They deserve it!
I am a HUGE Superman comicbook fan for more than a decade and a die hard Smallville-fan since the very first episode. After Doomsday,Toyman and Parasite last season I foresaw that they will bring Metallo in Season 9 even before the Season 8 finale had aired. because they just had to do it!! Metallo is such an awesome villain in the comics. he is almost as strong as Superman,invulnerable and can radiate Kryptonite. And actually his metal endoskeleton looks a LOT like the T-800 Terminator.
And Brian of course is just awesome for the role. He was such a cool character on T:SCC and now he plays even a much more cool character on my most favorite TV-show ever. This is so beyond cool.
And Summer on Dollhouse? Summer Glau and Eliza Dushku in one TV-show? Joss you are the frickin man!!!
Anyone that thinks smallville is still a great show after the last horrible season must be on some serious dope. Maybe in the next season they’ll show Clark jump another major comic book villain into an exploding building.

I am a Smallville Fan, I will continue to watch it, but last season was just bad. It had some good ideas, but it was Hallow, and the “destruction” of Doomsday was pathetic. All those super powered beings couldn’t do anything but a small explosion that didn’t hurt Clark stopped him?
Here’s hoping for an improvement, but with the loss of Lex, the darkened, unreal backgrounds, I am not expecting much.
