Bryce Dallas Howard to Replace Charlotte Gainsbourg in T4

Production has already begun on “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” (seriously, they really need to cut that title short, or just go with T4 already) in New Mexico, but that doesn’t mean everyone who was announced as in the cast will be there — namely Charlotte Gainsbourg, who has left T4 for a French comedy. In her stead will be Bryce Dallas Howard — that’s right, Gwen Stacy from “Spider-Man 3″, who will be stepping in for Gainsbourg because of the very popular “scheduling conflicts”.
Although in this case, it seems to be a case of Charlotte Gainsbourg wanting a sure bet — the French comedy — than the shady bet — T4, which, if the actors strike were to happen, would be canceled, leaving Gainsbourg without a job.
The Hollywood Reporter has the lowdown:
Gainsbourg was originally set to play Kate Connor, the wife of human resistance hero John Connor, played by Christian Bale. The actress had to bow out because of scheduling conflicts with another film, a French comedy. Production on “Terminator,” directed by McG, is already underway in New Mexico. If an actors strike were to happen, shooting would stop and then restart at a later date, potentially butting heads with the French film.
It’s interesting, I would never have thought Bryce Dallas Howard could pull off a potentially physical role like this, but after seeing her in “Spider-Man 3″ (in which she was easily the best thing, in my opinion), I think she’s up to it. Or in any case, it couldn’t be any worst than casting a British-French actress known for indie movies. And what about Claire Danes? She did okay in the role.
T4 is already shooting in New Mexico under the direction of McG, with Christian Bale starring as John Connor.
Okay, the guys I can understand, but the beautiful women in this movie are getting ready to become potentially very ugly. After all, there is no makeup, no curlers, no Fructise in Terminator 2018. I am interested to see how McG will carry this off.
I live in New Mexico, and ride up to the La Luz trailhead in the Sandia Mountains often. From June 2-6 filming was in progress on the steep and twisty La Luz access road. I saw 5 or 6 burnt out cars placed along the road (this was during their lunchbreak, the road wasn’t shut down), signs and stripes were painted out, and a couple new signs were put up, one had an arrow pointing the way to “Ferndale Observatory” (might have been ferndell, fuzzy memory). I spoke briefly to a guy who referred to the movie as “Project Angel” and showed me a sheet titled with that. I asked him if that was a codename, and he said no. I looked it up later, and it was obvious it was T4. Why bother lying to me, it’s such a small thing. Anyway, I thought it was very cool they were filming here!

Are they going to make Bryce Howard bleach her hair for every movie she does now?
