Let’s face it, the teaser trailer for “Terminator Salvation” was pretty damn awesome (see it for yourself here if you haven’t yet), but like most trailers, and teasers in particular, it came and went way too fast. So I went through a bigger version of the trailer (Yahoo! Movies is hosting some very high resolution versions here), and grabbed stills of the more notable images in the teaser. Check them out below.
What can I say, but, “Holy crap, this looks good.” And Christian Bale as John Connor? I remember posting on the rumor that he was going to be involved all those months ago, and not believing a single word of it. After all, could the Gods really be so kind as to give all of us Terminator fans Christian FRIGGIN Bale as our leading man? Holy shit, thanks, God! Here’s your first ever look at the minute long teaser trailer for “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” aka T4, which will also be shown in front of “The Dark Knight” movie.
That’s right, folks, it’s your first ever images from the “Terminator Salvation” set! That’s the good news; the bad news? Well, every picture is of the futuristic landscape of the movie, which means lots and lots and lots of burnt out buildings, wreck cars, and shot-to-hell 7-11’s (wow, they still have 7-11’s in the future? they don’t even have that in my city anymore!) and all that post-apocalyptic stuff you’d expect to find in an America (or in this case, Albuquerque, New Mexico) after the machines have risen up and launched a holocaust against us. Stupid machines.
McG’s “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” (aka T4) has already begun shooting with Christian Bale and Sam Worthington starring in New Mexico, but the production appears to still be hiring the cast. The latest addition is English actress Helena Bonham Carter (pictured, left and below), whose character in the movie Reuters calls “small but pivotal”. Carter is still in the negotiations stage, but whenever the trades report on “negotiations in progress”, it’s 99.9% a done deal.
As you undoubtedly have heard by now, McG’s version of the Terminator will be showing up in Teaser Trailer form in front of Warner Bros. sure-to-be mega hit “The Dark Knight”. You know, the latest Batman movie, which also happens to star Christian Bale, who is also the star of the new Terminator trilogies? — Holy Brilliant Cross Promotion, Batman! But before then, someone has sent what they claim to be the a confirmed description of the upcoming T4 teaser to movie site AICN. The site does not confirm or deny the description, so that it for what you will, especially considering the rumor about the film’s ending that AICN floated a little while ago that has been denied by everyone, including McG.
Director McG is currently shooting the end of the world in New Mexico as we speak ala “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”, but SuperheroHype has already spotted a teaser poster for the movie (head on below to see that). Besides the poster, MTV also learned that the first teaser trailer is scheduled to show on July 18th in front of “The Dark Knight” movie. Although I wouldn’t get too excited about the teaser trailer; as with all teaser trailers, they could easily construct it from the previous movies, or just shoot a shiny metal Terminator skull in the darkness, like the poster.
It didn’t take Warner Bros. long to send McG out there to tackle the recent rumor that surfaced just a day ago that purported to be the ending of “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”. (You can read that here if you have no idea what I’m talking about.) In a sly attempt to put down the rumor that the ending as mentioned in the link is true, McG spent most of his second blog talking about the new brand of Terminators that will be showing up in T4, including the T-600 (we won’t see the T-800 yet), and as he wrapping up his entry, he throws out this: “By the way, there are only three people who know the ending.”
Ooooooooohhhboy. If this had come around, say, April 1st or thereabouts, I would have easily thrown it into the trash can and forgotten about it. But it didn’t, which doesn’t mean you should still believe it, because let’s face it, as much as I enjoy reading what the guys over at Aint-it-cool-news has to say, and what their spies send in to them, they really could give less than a crap if their “scoop” ends up correct or not. AICN is about “breaking” scoops, not necessarily breaking correct scoops. Having said that, I’m still going to warn people that this article CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS, so don’t continue reading even if you don’t want the possibility of learning how “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” ends…
Production has already begun on “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” (seriously, they really need to cut that title short, or just go with T4 already) in New Mexico, but that doesn’t mean everyone who was announced as in the cast will be there — namely Charlotte Gainsbourg, who has left T4 for a French comedy. In her stead will be Bryce Dallas Howard — that’s right, Gwen Stacy from “Spider-Man 3″, who will be stepping in for Gainsbourg because of the very popular “scheduling conflicts”.
“Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” is officially in production, and Warner Bros. has created a production blog that T4 director McG will be using to communicate with the fans and, every now and then, dole out a piece of goody or two. Warner did this with “Watchmen” as well, with director Zack Snyder doing the same thing, and it looks like McG plans on following in his footsteps. This is great stuff, I have to admit, because I love it when directors go to the people and show us snippets from the movie, instead of hiding it in their drawers and waiting for their studio’s PR hounds to send out the goodies to one or two movie sties. That’s just crap, and they seem to know it now. Good for them, I say.
