While at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica last week showing 70mm prints of his masterpieces “Aliens” and “The Abyss”, original “Terminator” mastermind James Cameron was asked by a fan in the audience about what he thought of McG’s “Terminator Salvation”. Cameron, I think, was pretty classy and didn’t really kick dirt on the not-all-that-liked sequel by McG, but did relate this story about Arnold Schwarzenegger coming to him and wanting him to do “T3″, and his response to it. The punchline is the final few seconds.

He doesn’t comment on Salvation at all there!! Just tells a story about Arnie and T3.
James like a cult director (for me) and a professional based on his own ethic, doesn’t speak about the work of the rest of the directors. he made a very good work with Terminator and T2, that’s enough for us.
Video’s not playing for me
i think salvation is really good to be honest i dont think mcg could do much better than that what a step up for him from charlies angels wow marcus wright was awesome and so were john and kyle in salvation
He did’nt like it guys.
Of course he didn’t like it. It’s mindless garbage on the same level as Transformers. It even has giant go-bots.
What’s next - the Kevin Smith giant spider ?
Hopefully the franchise will die down for a while. Too bad they didn’t use the characters from the TV show, but I suppose that would have been too adult.
Terminator is not a ‘Pizza hut’ type of franchise. And ‘Mcg’ sure didn’t make a film that made any sense at all.
If they make another film, they need to concentrate on plot and dialogue. Use the action to further the plot.
And for god sake get some decent technical advisers. Don’t have an AI behaving like a 70’s TV bad guy or building robot motorcycles.
The TV show had the resistance living like the Vietnamese in the 10k day war, in tunnels dug in. The enemy AI used artillery and bioweapons as well as infiltrators. It even had different machine factions.
There are still good terminator stories to tell, but they are going to have to get someone who can write a plot that makes sense to an adult, because this is not a tween franchise.
Sorry mister Lazarus but after going back and watching the first two films the 4th terminator does actually fit, though there were deffinately a few scenes that made me wince butother scenes made up for it. Hell Yelchin playing Kyle was fantastic, he moved, talked and responds like Micheal Behin did in the first film. Also the action seemed to fit with the wide open desert so the robot motorcycles did not seem too out of place. Also Transformers was a big pile of hate speech, i’m sorry you compare the two, cause I think it is obvious that you were expecting salvation to stack up to the first two films, does it mean that its a bad movie that it didn’t, not at all. Salvation was an ok movie, a step in the right direction away from T3.
