New Terminator Salvation Spot Reveals Arnold’s Cameo

The last time I posted an article on this, complete with pics, the studio told me to remove it. Now that the movie is already out, and the secret is out there, the latest TV spot for the movie reveals Arnold Schwarzenegger’s digital cameo, probably the best thing about the movie for a lot of people.
They’ve included that now because the box office takings for Salvation so far haven’t quite been what they were hoping for. So in a last ditch effort to pull in more punters they’ve stuck Arnold’s face in the trailer.
Originally the studio weren’t gonna to market the film as having Arnie in it as he’s technically he’s not and only appears for a minute so they didnt want to lead cinema goers to believe he was a big part of the film, also they were keeping it as a little surprise in the movie.
Definately a really cool scene.
When i first saw this and Aronold appeared (i knew it was coming and saw it coming about 10 seconds before he showed up) a bunch of people litterally jumped out of their seats screaming. Was bummed to see his face shot off just a few seconds later.
(BTW if skynet can reproduce any voice why not fake Conner’s radio broadcasts)
“Definitely”.
Not “Definately”.
But this is really awsome because it doen’s seem to be that digital. i mean, there are some movies that you can tell weather it’s real or not but not in this.
It’s “whether”.
Not “weather”.
And it’s “awesome”.
Not “awsome”.
do you do anything else other than point out everyone’s writing errors? jesus christ, get a life or at least post something else, like, i don’t know, an opinion about the movie, who knows? maybe i’m saying that because you’re in a movie site and you’re correcting our posts instead of having your opinion about anything.
Cameron asks: “do you do anything else other than point out everyone’s writing errors?”
Sure, I do plenty else. But I appreciate it’s hard to guage that from just three posts. But I wonder whether Cameron really did want to know my answer to that question; maybe it was an attempt at rhetorical wit.
He/she continues: “jesus christ, get a life or at least post something else, like, i don’t know, an opinion about the movie, who knows?”
It did not take much to provoke Cameron to anger, or at least the taking of someone’s name in vain. Not nice. Get a life yourself, eh? One that features more of a continuum of reaction, perhaps.
And Cameron further contemplates: “maybe i’m saying that because you’re in a movie site and you’re correcting our posts instead of having your opinion about anything.”
Only Cameron would know for sure why he/she is saying that. At least I hope he/she does know.
One opinion of mine is that it is good to actually make the effort to check that what you write is English and makes sense, assuming of course that you are trying to use that language.
Express your opinions. Make your points well. Use this beautiful language that you have at your disposal to good effect; do not not abuse her.
That would be a great starting point.
probably i wasn’t on a good mood yesterday but when i “see” a guy/girl that only does that i get a little upset and it wasn’t because you corrected me, i know i make mistakes, i’m from portugal and i don’t write in english a long time ago but i’m sorry, for real, for my post yesterday, i liked your answer, and i read it by your point of view and that’s why i realized that maybe i didn’t expressed myself the right way and i apologize for that. anyway, happy new year
Yeah I think its easy one of the coolest moments in the entire Terminator franchise. But personally I cant understand why people are bitching so much about the movie. I thought it was great. Of course it wasnt as perfect as T1 and T2 and it definitely had its flaws but overall I really enjoyed it. The action was superb and the special effects were so awesome that my eyes threatened to pop out of my skull. Also I cant understand why everybody things the finale of the movie sucked. Why? Whats so bad about Marcus sacrificing himself so that John can live? To me it made a lot of sense. It was his chance of redemption,of SALVATION. Also he could not really live with what he had become. So giving his life to save the life of the one who gives humanity its hope-it makes sense to me.
People are also bitching about why John is not the leader yet. Well it makes sense to me that he isnt. Why should someone who has never had any military training (You know by actual US Military I mean) call the shots instead of high ranking army generals? Just cause John says he is gonna save mankind? If he said it at all, that is. Its very realistic that some high ranking Military leaders wont step aside for someone only cause people call him the savior. So naturally John had to rise up in the ranks and earn the faith and respect of the other soldiers. And when in the end the leaders are killed THEN it is only natural that John takes his place. I actually really liked that it was done that way. And therefore cant understand some people who cant stop bitching.
But the one thing I find so hypocritical from so-called “fans” is that first they complain that the movies dont have that dark T1-feeling no more and that they would crave something like in the first movie. Then when in salvation they do this wonderfully amazing scene with John and the both T-800 Terminators in the factory that very deliberately resembles the one in the end of T1 people start bitching that this is not very original and seeing a T-800 is nothing special anymore. I SO cant understand why people say that. At that time in the movie the T-800 is the newest terminator, the deadliest and I thought it was shown so greatly that the T-800 is so much more deadly than the T-600 or T-700. It has to watched in the context of the movie. The T-800 in the end to me was very, very special and I was so thrilled that the scene resembled the finale of T1 with the skeleton and the factory. And with the freezing there was even an element of T2 in there. I loved that. And visually it looked so stunning. Never ever have Terminators looked THAT great. ILM did such an outstanding job on this. In fact the fight in the factory is one of my alltime favorite Terminator moments of the whole franchise. And I will never understand in a million years how fans of Terminator (particularly the first movie) could not like that.
I am a huge Terminator fan. But if you now call me not a real fan simply because I liked these things in Salvation you are really sad, pathetic people. I am a HUGE fan and I still think that Salvation is a great movie. Its not as perfect as T1 and T2 are (far from it actually) but honestly I did not expect that to happen. None of the Terminator movies will ever be that great again. except maybe if Cameron would do it himself. But even then I would doubt it. So I am not going into these movies, expecting another T1 or T2. And whoever does that is incredibly naive. Thats why I am not disappointed that Salvation is not as good as T1 and T2.
But it still is a great movie that I enjoyed a lot.
And of course the Arnold cameo was amazingly done. ILM rules.
T-3000:
I read your comment an as a older Terminator Fan, I’m agree with you. Salvation shows us what only we saw in DarkHorse comic’s. they brought to movies a world we saw in the comics and some tracks of T1 and T2 (TSCC showed it too, but not enough). ILM amaze us once again. (sorry for Stan Winston, his creator. he can’t saw it complete) the fights, the dogfights with the aerial HKs the machines, the film is scaring to death!
I said long time ago “McG don’t screw it up, this is not a Charlie’s Angels franchise, is Terminator” and after watch the entire movie, he made it. he rescue from the ashes of the nuclear war, the epic story of a man who saves the world.
hail to the Terminator Salvation cast and crew and try to bring back TSCC. the fans will be thank you!
I second the poster above, take that to heart, people will whine either way with the Terminator 4; Salvation pays homages to the three Terminator movies plus opens new ground for a proper reboot of the concept.
If T4 can be faulted for something it is because people can’t come to grips with SkyNet as a villain rather than a personified bad guy in the conventional sense as a Terminator, do we want the Director MacGee to spoon-feed basic literary conventions to the critics in Salvation (T4)? Who cares for the critics, they are doing a job, they are not even paying fans to boot.
T4 is for all the fans who know, love and worshipped the Terminator since it arrived in the year 1984. It is not for ‘new fans’ and the casual action-movie dudes having a social night out, who really don’t count and don’t appreciate Cyberpunk Sci-fi.
and not only that. in the fatcory scene, when john is thrown up be the terminator and he impales him, doesn’t that reminds you of that T-800/T-1000 scene, from T2? and the song “you could be mine” was as excellent choise because it reminds us of T2 again. and this movie actually show us how John got his scar on his face. because, if your remeber, in all future scenes, his face has a scar and now we know how he did it. and putting the things on your perspective, it actually makes sence that he’s no “great militar leader” because he wasn’t in the army (because of lack of time, i’ sure!). no only that, but if you remember, in T3 the Terminator told John that in the future he would die because of him, because they (the skynet) would build a terminator with his image so he could infiltrate more easily and in this movie he almost get killed! of corse, for me a Terminator movie only is a Terminator movie with Arnold in it! i don’t have the fault, but we all are Terminator fans in out own ways. no one has the right to tell us that he/she is the biggest fan. we all are Terminator biggest fans. and i’m a girl and most of the people that i know that like the Terminator movies are guys so in here i can talk about this saga that i love and it’s almost like a religion/family to me. thank you guys/girls for all the good times that i spent reading this posts and posting comments. and also, i’m sorry if sometimes my posts have grammar errors, but i’m from portugal and i never understood english grammar!
I love Arnold…cameo or no cameo, this movie was sloppy and felt rush. T3: Rise of the Machines is better than this joke of a movie. McG must have thought he did an awesome job before all the negative reviews came in almost immediately. Sad.
And for the few that liked this movie, I’m glad you enjoyed it, seriously-no sarcasm intended. At least someone had a good time.
its a very good movie imo
@t-3000 great post i agree with all of that sure it wont be t1 or 2 people shouldnt have expected that. It makes sense that John wouldnt automatically out of the blue be the leader to me as well
Now that Arnie’s all so perfeckly digitized, after he dies they can pay his estate big bucks and make all the Arnie movies they want.
T-3000 i could not agree with u more u said exactly what i thought of the movie
some scenes did indeed make me think about T1
and i think it was really nicely done
and arnold was made really nice in the 80ies style hair and stuff
some people just have to be dicks about somethings cuz of boredom i think
christian bale did a perfect job being john connor
and RISE OF THE MACHINES IS TOTAL CRAP COMPARED TO THIS MOVIE !!!
the arnie’s cameo kick ass !
i got shivers down my spine when i heared You could be mine by GnR.
I loved seeing the T-800 in this film although i kinda wished it wasn’t in the film i still feel 2018 is still to early for the T-800 to be shown considering the T-600 was made only 2years before this film, what happened to the T-700 was it even in the film?!
Or was that T-700 in skynets factory? i’ve heard its T-800’s but always thought it was the T-700 =/
The thing is, Terminator is starting to deal in ‘replays’ and ‘do over’s in terms of timeline. We’re dealing with not only that but possibly multiple realities (hinted at in the series, I know they’re seperate, but you can’t deny the connection logically).
Like the woman at the beginning of the film, she knew what was coming and was experimenting beforehand.
It’s thus plausible that time jumping has resulted in some future tech being handled by past specialists, this was demonstrated with T2 and T3 with the parts left behind by the T-800.
This goes for any “plot holes” that people pull up. It’s both an interesting design to create a story and it’s events around and a great way to keep a franchise like this going without it HAVING to hold true to every single fact presented in the original. Cheap or not, it keeps it interesting.
On the early appearance of T-800 Series “Arnie” model; Connor had the entire Research and “Research & Development Automated Manufacturing Facility” nuked off out of site, this means:
- Most if not all relevant data and information re. T-800 was destroyed, thus being the distinctive features of T-800 model was an un-tested prototype series and the like, setting back SkyNet several years. Sky-Net decides to restart this process later on, however John Connor has the distinctive advantage over SkyNet given his knowledge of the past.
- Much needed raw materials have become harder to find as a consequence and they are needed to create the special alloys for generic terminators and armouring of HKs and other military weapon systems, this requires storage, handling and mining of scarce ores.
- Human tissue and organs stores were wiped out and the supply of live humans subjects for further experimentation in relation to cyborg infiltration units become scarcer since Connor’s evacuation of penned human subjects, I love the Auschwitz theme. SkyNet is the ultimate Nazi. Connor is our Jesus.
- Research and Development information regarding “The Time Displacement Technology” were also destroyed in the explosion, prompting SkyNet to re-initiate the R & D elsewhere, given the issue with Logistics and Lead-times associated with this.
Yes the TERMINATOR “Will Be Back”, may be with Ridley Scott directing as well…too cool. Praise Stan Winston his work will live on.
My view on the Terminator Salvation comes from my background in Project Management.
I still can’t believe the absurd hatred that many fans keep towards the movie… personally, i’ve been a fan sinc T1, then i saw T2 at theatre (hell i was still a kid), and then T3 (Wich i liked, even though it had some serious problems with DATES)
Now salvation… i don’t know what people expected, but for me, it was EXACTLY what i’ve expected, THE FUTURE WAR.
i’ve seen it twice, and im planning to see it again next week, AND i will obviously purchase the dvd (i have the three previous ones in my collection so…)
i REALLY hope the movie earns enough to secure a T5… the movie ending was too open… we NEED that damn sequel… if they planned to close the whole saga at T6, i REALLY wish for the franchise to earn enough… just 2 more to go…
In reply to the above post by Gloric; there are grounds to believe that SkyNet has taken multiple steps to defeat the Resistance by waging an undeclared “Temporal Cold War” on many fronts (evident from the Sarah Connor Chronicles) by sending multiple Terminators and other agents to adjust and sabotage the Main Timeline of what we should call “Earth 101″, where the Human Resistance wins in the end.
According to other Sci-Fi shows like Star Trek Franchise (ST XI, STTNG) and Stargate SG 1; Time Travel storytelling is based on the concept that there are multiple time-lines each with slight variations of the “Most Probable Outcome Universe” (it follows laws of probability) where probabilities aggregate eventually in “Human Resistance wins” or “SkyNet Wins” scenarios.
For those who ‘see’ plot holes, this is the answer; in English Literary Convention there is not space for Science in regards to the Physics of having multiple Time Lines and Time Travel in a Multi-verse (Sci-fi story telling is keeping with scientific advancement folks), if traditional literary convention has it and it somehow it offends ‘critics’, this is not the case with the Sci-fi Time Travel Genre is a new discourse. More recently JJ Abrams has explored multiple time-lines and parallel storylines in the series in the popular Lost series, plot holes? Sorry guys if you are too conventional for the Terminator Series, you are just not real Sci-fi Fans but the Ordinary Popcorn movie-going public for which Terminator Fandom seeks to be separate itself. The Fandom takes its time to learn and educate itself about the subject matter without having to explain every single event in the Terminator universe.
Tip for the Terminator Fandom:
Ignore the Douche Wetblankets (pardon the lingo here), they are simply mad because they feel left out of the story, this is not Facebook material, great, there is always Twighlight for them to gossip with their friends about hackneyed love stories.

PS: See more in Wikipedia on the Ontological Paradox.
i’m sure that both kyle in t1 & arnie in t2 said that he was a t101?? i might be wrong??
He is a T-800 model 101. In the third he is a T-850
i think that also it was very crap how in t3 sarah connor only got a brief mention
Yes Arnold was the best part of this movie he is the best part of the first 3 movies so with him not being in the show just messed up the shows chances of it getting a season 3. The storyline was way off & people just could not bare to care about what the story really was when arnold was fully in the first 3 movies. Summer Glau is so hot & yes she has me likeing her a lot she did well in the show but still true Terminator fans like myself still wished Arnold was in the TV as the bad Terminator he was in Terminator 1 Summer Glau kept use happy just for a little while until Terminator Salvation & the part with Arnold Cameo. I say having the people who play in the show Join the movie whould have been even cooler & mixed with Arnold would have been bad ass. Changing actors like John Connor 4 Times sucks people want to see the same actor in the movies & TV Show not different ones each movie & then the TV show. Linda Hamilton is also the best Part of Terminator she does really well as Sarah Connor & she should all ways be sarah Connor even in the show lena Headey does ok as Sarah Connor but she can’t ever replace how good Linda Hamilton was as Sarah. I wish Linda Hamilton would really do the TV Show & show her part of Her dying of Cancer. I saw Edward Furlong was the best of the John Connors as he was the first to be John Connor. Nick Stahl did ok as well but Thomas Dekker & Christiane Bale I can’t say much. any way with all this I still want a season 3 of the TV show really bad no matter how much I may think I hate it. I still think it is pretty good.
Movies solve problems, and that means that sequels have to be different and stand on their own. The notion of new “chase” Terminator movies is going to be a real downer if the creators aren’t careful. Look what happened with the last Superman film. Truth is, T1 caught us with its time paradoxes, romance, and Arnold. T2 was the best of the three and T3 was a real disappointment. The writers of T4 did what the writers on TSCC did, which is find spaces within the Terminator myth where more story needed to be filled in. The notion of a bridge between man and machine was, to my viewing, brilliant. Terminator will wear out it its just a series of future villains coming back to chase each other. The diehard fans need to have the Terminator world filled in. I hope people get that.
I second Rwk.
Unless we all get a Terminator Reboot.
