Terminator NYCC News: Christian Bale’s Rant, Arnold in Salvation

Along with pretty much any movie worth its salt, “Terminator Salvation” also visited the New York Comic Con over the weekend, where among other things, director McG had to respond to the recently unearthed Christian Bale on-set rants (you can hear that for yourself here, though we won’t get too much into it, since it doesn’t have much to do with the movie itself, and aren’t really worth reporting), as well as that age-old question: Will Arnold appear in “Salvation” or won’t he? McG answers, thanks to MTV.
First, on Arnold and “Salvation”:
“I don’t want today’s Arnold Schwarzenegger,” the director told a packed hall after screening a sizzle reel from the May 2009 release. Referencing the original film, he said, “I want the idealized, Griffith Park, Bill Paxton, tire-track-on-the-face archetype and we’ll see what we can do about that.”
Basically, expect a digital copy of Arnold’s face, but not Arnold himself. Makes sense. Arnold the Terminator should be ageless. You need to go digital for that effect.
On Christian Bale’s F-bomb fueled tirade on the set of “Salvation” directed at “Slavation” DP Shane Hurlbert:
“A film set is a passionate place and that happens. I wanted that level of passion to show up in the John Connor character. It’s a war movie, and I didn’t want it to be lightweight. As Christian said himself, he was sort of half-Connor, half-Christian, and it just happened.”
But more importantly, did it affect the film’s shooting? Thankfully, no:
“It hasn’t affected us in the slightest,” he said. “Christian has taken responsibility for the way he acted. It’s a matter of fact that he and [director of photography] Shane [Hurlbut] are buddies. We finished the movie together. We did some additional photography about a month ago.”
We’re not going to spend anymore time covering the Christian Bale rant, mostly because it has nothing to do with the movie or the franchise, and is purely a celebrity thing. Plus, since the blow-up hasn’t affected the film in any way, it isn’t of value to fans of the franchise. Also, Christian Bale has since shown great remorse toward his behavior, so why beat a dead horse?
Listening to the audio of a fueled up Christian Bale on set was absolutely hilarious .All jokes aside i really do think that this movie will most likely be a ‘ flop ‘ and in truth i hope it will be . I regret the day i paid for my ticket to go and watch T-3 , a very sad day it was indeed .

James cameron is not going anywhere near this film , he is clearly against all these new movies that are milking the rewards for his hard efforts on T1 & T2 . The franchise has been established , stamp anything with a Terminator logo on it and people will flock to see it , and that’s all that counts from the box office perspective . I really don’t care about this film at all , it will be a 2 hour nonsense fueled hollywood blow out . I’m really worried about TSCC as that is an ongoing series that has caught my attention , the first season was masterful . Though i have a feeling that TSCC is on borrowed time seeing as from what i have calculated , the series 2 ending episode ( # 22 ) will/should air on Friday the 17th of April . From what I’ve been able to find on Terminator Salvations release is that its premiere is scheduled for May the 22nd , which is relatively close to the series 2 final episode of TSCC which ends up as a 35 day gap between the scheduled end of TSCC and the premiere of Terminator Salvation on the big screen . Now my worry here is all to obvious , is TSCC really only around to promote the upcoming film indirectly … ??? Why was the show put on hiatus for close to two months during the winter break … ?? I’m in Australia so i am not accustomed to the united states programming schedules and how they react to new years holidays etc … I believe again it was just another marketing strategy to elongate the cruel end to the TSCC series for the sole purpose of promoting the upcoming hollywood blockbuster . Warner Brothers own the Terminator franchise and i assume Warner Brothers worked in with FOX to tie the series in with their upcoming film .

Y’know, Terminator Chronicles might not be covering it, anymore, but I have to comment on Bale’s actions. There’s NO EXCUSE for that sort of BS, and frankly I voted for the guy to be black balled. I love Bale’s movies, so don’t get me wrong, but he’s standing there screaming at his ‘buddy’ on the set of a movie, asking him if he’s a professional, when Bale is the one who’s lost his professionalism. Apology or not, this is the what… third… piece of bad news I’ve heard just since January 1st this year about the guy?
Come on, why should ANYONE have to put up with that BS? If Bale wants to be the best in Hollywood, then he has to pull his head out of his fourth point of contact and be the best at everything in his professional and off-work life, period.

Why exactly did everyone hate T3 so much? Was it just becuase James Cameron didn’t work on it or what? Honestly, I didn’t think it was quite as good as T2, but still liked it, especially the ending. I think they could’ve picked a much better John Connor and they went a bit far with a new termintor model, but overall, it wasn’t that bad. It had more of a hollywood action movie feel to it than that gritty realism that T1 and T2 had, but common, this is america, you can’t get what you want all the time, you have to sit back and enjoy what is given to you…. so unless you have the money and power to change that, why fight it?

For instance the kid Nick Stahl is a great actor, Claire Daniels also, but their characters ere lost, T3 were made to help the Governator been elected, ok, but almost kill the franchising, untill comes TSCC, great series, gave a new breath on it, but instead WArner contract a professional guy, They call upon the services of McG. First, there is beatfull women onCharlie’s Angels 1 and 2, specially Lucy Lius, ok, it’s atractive watch this movie, but is just like Joe Shumacher, I never ends to watch, is so bad, so confusing, i don’t have any memories of the film, pehaps only the curves of CAmeron Dias, but we have more of her in other films, what is the point in atch that crap again. Remeber McG is the guy who made that pieace of crap.
About Antonio, he is a true fan, he fears for the continuation of the saga on TV with TSCC, and you all criticeze him? Jedi, geez, what is your issue? I’m not critisizing anyone or calling anyone wrong for that matter. I’m just saying, you are no millionaire or owner of any franchise for that matter… so what the people do who DO own the franchise is out of your control COMPLETELY. Sure, you can believe in having a voice and all that mumbo jumbo, but unless you have the money and power, you arn’t changing anything.
I didn’t mind T3, since I dont make the movies and have no control over that, I think they did a decent job on it, maybe not better than what I couldve done if I had resources, but I don’t, so I enjoy what I can.
I think McG, although he did make some crappy movies prior to this one, has potential, and I think this new T4 is going to be much better than T3.
Rant and rave all you want, personally I’d rather hear Antonio do it cuz he sounds intelligent doing so, but we have all got your point, enough already.
