Thomas Dekker Adds to the Direct-to-DVD TSCC Movie Rumor

Over the weekend Thomas Dekker was at the Toronto Annual FanExpo to promote his horror movie “Laid to Rest”, and in an interview with the guys at TheTVAddict.com, was asked about the possibility of continuing The Sarah Connor Chronicles in other forms besides TV. He said this in response:
“They’ve spoken about doing a TV movie. Well, not a TV movie, but kind of like a direct-to-DVD movie. Obviously it’s difficult because the show is based on a movie and they just had one come out, so it’s kind of hard to make a movie with our show because everyone has kind of forgotten about us. But they’re hoping, at least when I spoke to [Producer] James Middleton that’s where they are with it.”

As much as I loved the show, given where they left off, I don’t see how they can wrap up anything with a movie. A miniseries maybe, but a single movie?
As a long time fan of Stargate and SG Atlantis, I have gotten a blast out of the Sarah Connor Chronicles. The robot and mum are absolute honeys and the stories have been pretty good. So what is is with the cretins who control what gets seen on the idiot box. Don’t they realise there is a significant percentage of the population out there that loves this stuff and is hungry for more!!!

I can’t believe this show was cancelled. I was just sitting here setting up some recording of the series I like since a lot of them are just starting and it occurred to me that I had not heard anything about TSCC. Then when I go to see when it is going to start I find out it was cancelled. That sucks! Shirley Manson is awesome. I thought that was really cool. Oh well. They will probably replace it with another reality show for the mindless masses.
I just finished watching all of the second season. i have to say, i was intrigued by the last episode but of course…wanted more! i like the actors who play each respective role and think they do the Terminator franchise justice. fingers crossed on a sequel type thing. same thing happened with Dead Like Me, they did a direct to DVD movie as well. wasnt bad, but i think the terminator d2dvd would be awesome!

Oh God yes please let this happen, I don’t care how many movies they want to make I’ll buy all of the TSCC ones. In my opinion the TV series is already better then the Terminator films well the 3rd and 4th definetely but the firt two were amazing but still Summer, Thomas and Lena are amazing at portraying Cameron, John and Sarah.

They canceled it because the ratings were quite bad (in the US at least). Too many stupid people wanted to watch football players dance (Dancing With The Stars), instead of this awesome show.
not all of the us like watching football player dance i love the tscc for your info i hate that it off air it’s one of 2 show i turn the tv on for the other show happens to be bones and they don’t come on the same night so i was happy know i don’t even turn on the tv except for bone and that’s it.

The key thing I like about this leak from Thomas Dekker, is that he got his information from James Middleton. So here’s hoping something will develop. But I’m not holding my breath, not while halcyon is going through it’s legal hassle.

Bring it back come on it was a great show why cancel it, every show goes through a dry patch it’s still no reason to cancel it. It only had 2 seasons thats not much of a life span it should have had at least 3 to 4 seasons before out right canceling it, not to mention waiting for the ratings in other contries that hadn’t even seen half the 2nd season before canceling the show.
Idd well at least things are starting to happen i guess, but even if they’re still thinking about it it will takes some time till it’s aired and especially for EU countries like the Netherlands. But at least it’s Hope!

It’s great that there are talks of a d2dvd movie, hopefully it will be more like 2 or 3 movies or even a precursor to the return of the series on TV.
TSCC was the only show after BSG finished that i really enjoyed, i bought the DVD and blurays of season one and will buy the season 2 ones when they are released here in the UK.
Please WB bring back this excellent series!

You guys are wasting your time trying to get Fox’s attention. It’s over, they took the show offline and will not bring it back. You should go to the source, focus on the rightholders of the Terminator franchise and on WarnerBros.
Yeah, but with Halcyon under court attack over about a dozen lawsuits, they’ll be useless. Warner Brothers doesn’t have that much control since this was, primarily, a Fox project, so the people to talk to, at this point, are Fox.
I’m not trying to argue, but the information is that WB has the rights to TSCC and Halcyon owns the rights to Terminator franchise. Therefore, if you want to have a 3rd season or a direct-to-dvd movie, then you need to contact them. And right now, I don’t expect much movement until Halcyon’s troubles get fixed.
Halcyon’s is already trying to sell off the entire rights for $60 million or a portion of the rights to settle their debts. Ultimately, it will be a court that decides who gets a piece of, or the entire Terminator pie.

I haven’t heard any further news on McG’s plans with T5, but I would think that would have to be put on a back burner, unless Halcyon is encouraging him to proceed to make the Terminator franchise look more valuable. But then that would be a financially stupid move on McG’s part if “new owners” don’t want him to do the next film or want something different. But then its Hollywood we are talking about - stupid moves seem to be part of that industry.

Were I to purchase those rights, I would put the story back on track, attempting to resolve and/or explain all that has come before. Brancato, Ferris, McG and all his crew would be gone so fast they would no longer remember what the word Terminator means. Not that they know what it is about, now, hehe.
By putting the story back on track, I mean I would get back to the very first movie and bring it full circle over the course of movies 5 and 6 while resolving the issues from 2, 3, and 4 and completing the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I too just finished watching the last episode of Season 2 on DVD since I do not have cable. This could be a sleeper series like BattleStar Galactica was but then again the economics have changed as well as the formula.
No one really knows for sure when it’s time to stop gambling though, there are plenty human believers out there who want the story not to end.

I’m sure if the studio wants the original cast back, and according to Brian A. Green they all want to come back, that the studio would find a way to work around the schedules of all of the actors. It is not uncommon for studios to film around the availability of actors. I can even recall a movie in which an actor wasn’t available for a crucial scene and they filmed around him using someone to read his lines from off screen and used a stand-in, then later they digitally inserted that actor into the scene. I wish I could recall what film it was, but I was surprised because I couldn’t even tell when I watched it. I only learned what they did later when they showed it on TV.

I believe, if done right, a movie could do just that. I mean, look at Firefly… Serenity was able to provide some closure.

I couldn’t agree with you more Sara. Excellent acting by all members of the cast. Fantastic stories that required you to think. My favorite hour of the week was watching TSCC. Now that is gone. Hoping it will return before too long.

here in London i just finished watching season 2, we all agree its addictive watching and brillant from cast to the writing. unfortunatly high quality shows are being ditched in favour of these reality type shows? ie dancing with stars and xfactor
In Chile, they showed until the middle of the season 1 ‘coz ratings was too low. one of the factors was the schedule. they showed on sundays night they blamed to downloadings. I’m feeling a little dissapointed ‘coz the only way I followed the chronicles was watching it on line. Ratings always has the blame of it.

Terminator was fantastic, I just found out it is not returning to fox - what a shame. It was one of our favourite shows to watch! I loved to watch Reece, my husband loved to watch Cameron - something for everyone!

I’ve posted elsewhere on this website that Halcyon has been given the green light to continue production on T5. That Sucks. But if they can produce another mediocre movie, then WB can surely produce a direct-to-DVD movie, or even better another season, of TSCC.
The TSCC was the best thing that had happened to television, in my opinion. There’s just too much reality tv out there.
I just purchased season two of TSCC on Blu-Ray. I also own the first season of this beloved series.
Hopefully, WB will produce that Direct-to-DVD movie that has been talked about. I would naturally prefer another season, but something is better than nothing at this point. So much potential here.

I just purchased Season 1 & 2 of TSCC on DVD. I can’t wait to sit back and chill out for several hours watching every episode back-to-back.
This series deserves renewal. It has a lot going for it. Nearly everyone, including myself, has already pointed out all of the good aspects of the show. the acting, the stories, characters you care about, a family fighting evil alone, a young man being forced into a destiny not of his choosing, and a cyborg who may as yet be more human than we think.
This is great drama! I’ve watched TV my entire life. TSCC was the first show I actually looked forward to watching each and every week since I was a teenager. WE need more seasons, not just a direct-to-DVD movie, but if that is what the producers give us then I will accept it. Provided it is in keeping with the concepts and themes developed in season 2 and builds on them. I don’t want some piece of crap produced just to appease the fans. that would be worse than nothing at all.

I agree 100%. Only two TV Sci-Fi shows brought something new to TV…. Time Travel and Robots/Cyborgs, they were Dr. Who and the Chronicles. Star Trek was old hat stuff ie zillions of Aliens, there was nothing new in it at all.
Season 2 is not out here until 16 November, so another 3 weeks or so to wait.
I wonder how Season 2 is doing in the Far East?

I very rarely buy much entertainment anymore. Let’s face it, there is too much free entertainment out there and the lure is very strong. When I want archival quality material, I pay for the originals; things like John Lennon and Rolling Stones remasters.
I admit it, I watched TSCC on pirated DVDs, but after watching the series twice, I decided to cowboy up and buy the original DVDs. Why? It’s THAT good!
Take note Fox, Sci-Fi, or whomever decides to pick up TSCC. A show like this may not have the hugest fan base, but it has a rabid fan base. Fans are the people who will continue to pay money for quality. As you watch your sales continue to decline, remember who still buys factory DVDs-it’s the fan. A series of straight-to-DVD movies is a potential cash cow.
I agree 100% Just watched season 1 again, and enjoyed it even more! Also ordered season 2 from Amazon-£31 that’s nearly $62, but I don’t mind paying that.

I think it’s sad that here it is almost eight months after the final episode aired here in the US and almost seven months after FOX announced the cancellation and there are still people finding out about its cancellation.

SCC was truly awesome. It was so much better than T4 and T3 for its story, different themes, and it was an intelligent epic show that was also humanizing. Even though some of the lines were unneeded.
Too bad it worked with a limited budget. Imagine if they were free to include a lot of the expensive special effects, different sets, and stuntwork for the Terminator fights without being constrained by the TV14 rating.
Fox threw away a gem.

I think what irks me the most about cancellations is that they really don’t know how many millions were watching. A lot of us never get counted, or know what’s going on or even find out show have been dumped until long after the fact. Probably because all we do is watch, we don’t write letters or hang out posting comments on dedicated web sites. They just don’t know we are out there waiting for our favorite shows to start a new season. And when they don’t and months go by we eventually go looking for answers, but not everyone has a computer which means they will never know the what or why. And considering how many channels are available these years, I have over 300, not counting on demand, or what I could watch online, to think several million viewers of one show in any time slot isn’t enough, well it’s unrealistic in today’s world. That’s old school everyone has an antenna and all there is are the Network shows to divvy up the viewers between mentality. Today the big networks have the least desirable menus to pick from.
Maybe they should run ads on the networks asking us if we want more of a particular show or not. Or at least let us know they decided to stop producing a show; and what they replaced it with. And they should all at least have a final episode with some kind of closure. They could at least have take this one to the day Skynet started the war, and let it end like T3 ended.
Mostly I just keep thinking that ALL the networks should hire better executives to run things. Considering how much they pay the top level decision makers they could get a lot better value per dollar spent than they do now.
yes, this is really sad..all the tv shows that i like are cancelled…angel, buffy, life and now this…even now i can’t believe that they did this, the last episode ended with so much questions without answer..i was stuck to the tv, me and my brother, who iniciated me in the terminator saga when i was 6.
i really hope that there’s something that we can do..they will not shut us down like machines.

Could it be that Skynet has replaced all the Corporate decision makers with its own versions and that is why they canceled it all.
Because things were getting too close to the reality the future holds, of Skynets ultimate defeat of and the total annihilation of the Human race, if we are all kept unaware of what its doing in this time line?

look, out of the massive rally of complants that followed Terminator Salvation i dont think that another chris bale terminator film is what we need, instead give him &60 million dollars and the cast of The Sarrah Connor Chronicles, make a theatrical end to the tv-series and let the franchize endwhere it belongs — to a futher more cannon sequel that, in the end, held a much deeper level of emoitionality than the latter of the movie series; Rise of the Machines and Salvation.

I want this series back. But Whose to blame? It’s like Firefly all over again. They’ve ripped away Summer Glau from her adoring fanboys once more. I get teh feeling Fox doesn’t put much effort into keeping or marketing their sci-fi shows. Terminator is worthy of an HBO series though. I’d pay to see that.
