Thomas Dekker Drops TSCC Spoilers about Riley, Kyle Reese, and Cromartie

Thomas Dekker (aka John Connor) recently did an interview with Sci Fi Wire and dropped some hints about what’s coming next in the second half of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which returns to the airwaves on February 13 in its new Friday timeslot, alongside Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse. Among some of the more interesting things Dekker revealed was the fact that John Connor will, in fact, be meeting his father Kyle Reese at one point (perhaps even the first episode back, if the previews are any indication), and remember the bloody scene with Riley in the bathroom at the end of the last episode? According to Dekker, that may not be Riley’s doing.

Some of the highlights from the SciFiWire interview:

Dekker … reveals, among other things, that his not-everything-she-seems girlfriend Riley (Leven Rambin) may not have killed herself, as it appeared in the last episode of last year.

“She did not die from slitting her wrists,” Dekker said, confirming what co-star Garret Dillahunt had leaked earlier. “I will say that much. But I can’t say what happens—Garret’s a trickster, so I wouldn’t believe much that he said.”

But she may not be the last character to take the big dirt nap as the season winds up, Dekker added. “They said at Comic-Con that one of the major characters would die this season, and I think everyone thought it was Garret’s character [killer cyborg Cromartie] … His character did die, but then … he’s back [as a new cyborg, so] maybe he’s not the one who dies. I can’t really say who. It’s so cryptic. Somebody still has to die. … Yes, there’s still a major death. I think.”

And Dekker saved the biggest spoiler for last.

John will encounter his real father, the ill-fated Kyle Reese, played by Jonathan Jackson, at some point.

You can read the rest of the interview at Sci Fi Wire. Dekker talks about his character’s evolution, his relationship to his mother Sarah, and how John Connor is finally rounding out into the futuristic rebel leader that we know and love.

And best of all? According to Dekker, the writers won’t be doing anymore Terminator-of-the-Week episodes that the network had forced upon them in the first half of the season. The final nine episodes, says Dekker, will be more serialized, similar to the first year.

So Riley didn’t slit her wrists. It couldn’t have been Cameron since she was outside talking to John. The only possibility is Jesse… or maybe they’ll surprise us. I will not speculate on the other bits of news but I sure hope they don’t kill off Cameron. It’s a very slim possibility anyway.

The article is mistaken about two things - first of all it’s Tuesday January 6th not December 6th.

Also, TD never said in the actual transcript that he meets Kyle personally. In fact he says that no one is coming back from the future in the Back 9 (which is nice for a change)

Well fella’s… it seems that things well get back on track from a “writers” perspective. So much was being voiced about the direction the series was headed by bloggers that were disappointed with the last few episodes, and some with the second season. We now know that the writers were having their arms twisted. Perhaps now they have saved the best for the last. Summer Glau, in her Dec. 12, 2008 radio interview suggests that the move to Fridays might be a positive one. One more season is all I ask…one more season!

Bill, can you elaborate on what was said about the Friday move possibly being a good thing? What was the reason she gave?

Kyle, Google: KROQ’s Kevin and Bean radio show on Fri Dec 12. You can hear for yourself what Summer had to say.

One more season. I think that’s what all the TSCC fans (including myself) want. now Dekker reveals something twisted about who tried to kill Riley.

Suspects?

Cromartie didn’t killed Riley the first time, why?
Jesse? could be, ‘coz she considered Riley expendable. not able for her mission
Cameron? How, if she talked to John when they discovered it!

HEY!! i got a good one maybe riley came back form another future n slit here present future self’s wrists. yes thats right i said “present futuer self”.hahaha, it sounds like something they’d do at the moment. but seriously who cares who did it the fact is they didnt do it properly, she’s still alive!

good stuff, love this show. That connor kid makes me want to play with guns
can’t wait for S02!
